I was looking at other photographers blog sites and i came across a woman who does photography for weddings. Her name is Jessica Claire, I think her work is very beautiful. Here is a link to her website that shows some of her photos and descriptions of them. click here to view her page . The photos in her blog are very quite in a way, but has a sensitivity to them. They are soft and calm and I think they were perfect for wedding pictures. If I were older and getting married, I would for sure hire her. (: Hope you enjoy.

This is a good example of how something so simple could be so beautiful. I love taking pictures of flowers and things outside, nature is truly one of the worlds greatest wonders. I really believe that a true photographer should be able to capture and appreciate the beauty of the outside world.

This picture to me truly says American. It reminds me of the joy and just all around good feelings one can have. This photo was taken after the second world war at Time Square in New York. A sailor kissing a nurse is something I just really believe to be amazing. The complete atmosphere and emotion of this picture just says to me that the sailor is glad to be home and alive and I think that during this time the citizens were too.
This is a picture from the 1969 Lunar moon landing. This is one of, not only Americas, but the world's achievements. A lot can be said about this picture, there were so many doubts about whether or not people should be going to the moon. This advancement in science and technology really helped shape the coming events in the United States. Thanks to the moon landing it not only brought about the space race, but also the race for supremacy between the worlds greatest countries. Each country was striving for more and none of them seemed to be satisfied with being second. I think that because of this exploration of the outside world, it led to the slow destruction of humanity in a way that can't be fixed.
This picture was taken in 1930 in Indiana. The story is that two young black men (pictured here) were hung by an angry mob of 10,000 white people for the suspected crime of raping a white girl. No evidence was ever shown to prove the two mens innocence or guilt. There was also a third man thought to be involved but the girl that was said to be a victim, her uncle proclaimed the mans innocence. Pictures like this really make me think what was wrong with America back then. It kills me to think that not even a hundered years ago, which isn't long when you talk about history, there were people treated horribly and killed for no reason just because the color of their skin. America was suppose to be "the land of the free and home of the brave" and yet their own citizens were being scrutanized for something that they couldnt control. Its unbelieveable. Some people think that racial issues arent as bad as they were, say 50 years ago, and thats true. But there are still problems concerning it, sometimes people just cant get past the color of ones skin and I truly believe it is a horrible way to live. Thursday, September 17, 2009
Photography 9/17/09
This picture is of an Afghan girl from 1984, the reason I chose this picture is to show that even though her culture is very different from ours and their customs as well, she looks like any other girl in America that you could see walking down the street or through the halls of school. The women is Afighanistan are very modest, there are laws forbidding them to show any part of their body except their eyes (obviously to see), but also they are to walk behind the men and keep their heads down. So freedom is not something many of them think about let alone try to protest for. I love this picture not only for the quality of the photo but also you can tell just by looking at her that there is a whole other life that she lives filled with tourture, danger, and fear. The girl in the picture was around 12 when it was taken and the photographers were unable to find out her name until 1992. Her picture made the cover of National Geographic the next year (1985). This photo was taken by Steve McCurry.Tuesday, September 8, 2009
History of Photography 9/8/09

In 1826 a french inventor named Joseph Nicèphore Nièpce used a camera obscura to hurn a permanent image of the countryside at his Le Gras, France, estate onto a chemical-coated pweter plate. He named his technique "Heliography" meaning "sun drawing". The black and white exposure takes eight hours and fades significantly, but an image is still visible on the plate today.

In 1839 a french painter and chemist named Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre photographed a Paris street scebne from his apartment window using a camera obscura and his newly invented daguerreotype process. The long exposure time (several minutes) means moving objects like pedestrains and carriages don;t appear in the photo. But an unidentified man who stops for a shoeshine remains still long enough to unwittingly become the first person to be photogarphed.
-Thanks to these pioneers in photography, the pictures we have so commonly take for granted these days are magnificent works of art that took more than a hundred years to become what it is today.

Photography day 4

People take pictures for many different reasons. Some are to admire beauty, some are to preserve the moment, and others are to remember the past. I believe that pictures can not only bring good memories but aso bad, people use them as a way to escape to a better time that they remember others use them as a way to look at the past in hope for a brighter future. Me, personally I take pictures so that I can remember the good and bad, admire the beauty and ugliness that is of today's world. Things shouldnt be forgotten just because they bring about a feeling you dont want but they should be embraced because it is what will, what was, and what is happening.

History of photgraphy day 2 and 3.

So over the past two days I have looked up and taken some pictures that I thought were pretty interesting. I've tried using different lights and effects to make the pictures draw the person in. In the four pictures that I have two of them are of my friend Lani, we went to the boat docks and took some pictures and I thought they turned out really well. The other two are from different scenes one is from outside and the other is from the inside of a bus.
